About the Art
I think I first saw Randy’s Donuts in Iron Man 2 and thought it was such a fun, over-the-top landmark, exactly the kind of thing you’d expect in LA. Seeing it in real life for the first time felt very familiar, a common occurrence when your first encounter with so many of these landmarks is through a screen.
I put extra effort into making every written detail of this illustration as accurate as possible, spending far more time than usual researching and carefully recreating the menu. It may be outdated now, but at the time, I loved the idea that someone could glance at their print and decide what they wanted to order ahead of time.
I’ve only had one glazed donut from here, but I can confirm it lives up to the hype, at least as far as donuts go.

Process Behind the Print
Each print begins with research and a hand-drawn sketch. I then do a quick colour study to capture the mood, before illustrating the piece in Photoshop, layer by layer, refining every detail as carefully as possible.

No, every piece is created digitally by hand. I spend a long time researching Los Angeles architecture and history, then carefully draw each illustration in Photoshop. It’s a process rooted in passion, not automation.
