The Griffith Observatory is the reason I started drawing Los Angeles in the first place. I first saw it in Rebel Without a Cause when I was younger and knew instantly it was something special.
I finally got to visit during a study abroad trip in my second year of university. Standing in the exact spot James Dean did in the film sparked something inside me, it showed me that there was more to Hollywood than just the actors. I was starstruck by a building.
Today, Iโm incredibly grateful to have a close relationship with the Griffith Observatory Foundation, who have supported my work for years. Even now, every visit feels surreal. I'll never get tired of drawing this building.
The paper. Hahnemuhle FineArt Pearl is a heavy cotton based paper with a soft pearl finish. It is what museums and galleries print on because the colors stay true for decades.
The ink. Giclee printing lays down archival pigment ink in fine layers, so the sky gradients and the tiny details in the windows come out the way George drew them.

I've been a big fan of George's work for years! I first bought the Observatory print, and continued to add to my collection as more pieces were released! I admire how he captures Los Angeles in his own unique style! These prints have been the centerpiece of my living room for some time now, and I never get tired of seeing them!
