About the Art
On my last trip to LA I posted a story of Barney's Beanery and said that if it got one like I'd draw it. Well it did get one like, in fact it got way more than just one, so as promised here it is, my tribute to the legendary West Hollywood spot!
I was able to visit before drawing it, and even though I didnโt spend long inside, I knew straight away I'd like it. Dark, a bit dingy, slightly chaotic, one of those places where the walls feel like theyโve soaked up decades of stories.
Thereโs also a little easter egg in the top right corner as a nod to Janis Joplin, as this was apparently the last place she visited before she passed.

Process Behind the Print
Each print begins with research and a hand-drawn sketch. I then do a quick colour study to capture the mood, before illustrating the piece in Photoshop, layer by layer, refining every detail as carefully as possible.
โGeorge Townleyโs fun, graphic art captures our streetscapes through rose-coloured glasses โ a reminder that sometimes it takes an outside perspective to appreciate how good you have it.โ
